Hondarrabi zuri
Synonyms: corbu (France), ondarrabi blanca, ondarrabi zuriya.
Grape used to make the famous txakolís from the Basque Country. It is characterised by its late budding and medium ripening. Its development in an Atlantic climate provides the grape with citric aromas and green herbs. They are not particularly intense either on the nose or on the palate, which is why some producers choose to age it on the lees and then mature it in the bottle, allowing it to develop very interesting hydrocarbon aromas. Examples of txakolí with a certain amount of ageing can be found especially amongst Bizkaiko Txakolina, where this type of white wine has developed the most. In young wines it is lively, fresh and smooth.
